Answer the following
- Find the discriminant of the equation: 2x2 – 7x + 3 = 0
- Find the nature of roots of equation 9x2 + 12x + 4 = 0
- If 2 is a root of the equation x2 + bx +12 =0 , find the value of b and find the other root.
- Solve 3x2 + 6x + 1 =0 by method of completing perfect square
- Solve by factorisation : a 2x 2 – ( a 2b 2 + 1)x + b2= 0
- The sum of the areas of two squares is 640 m2. If the difference of their perimeters is 64m, find the sides of the two squares.
- In a flight of 2800km, an aircraft was slowed down due to bad weather. Its average speed is reduced by 100km/hr and time increased by 30 minutes. Find the original duration of flight.
- If the price of petrol is increased by Rs.2 per litre, a person will have to buy 1 litre less petrol for Rs.1740. Find the original price of petrol at that time. (i) Why do you think the price of petrol is increasing day by day? (ii)What should we do to save petrol?
- Rs. 9000 were divided equally among a certain number of students. Amal was given the responsibility of dividing this amount among the students but 20 more students admitted to the school. Now each student got Rs.160 less. Find the original number of students? What value of Amal is depicted in the question?
- At present Rina‘s age is 2 more than the square of her daughter Hina‘s age. When Hina grows to her mother‘s present age, Rina‘s age would be one year less than 10 times the present age of Hina.Find the present ages of Rina and Hina.
- Find a natural number whose square diminished by 84 is equal to thrice of 8 more than the given number.
